Anna Clark is a journalist in Detroit. Her writing has appeared in Elle Magazine, the New York Times, Politico, the Washington Post, Next City, and other publications. Anna is the author of The Poisoned City: Flint’s Water and the American Urban Tragedy, which received a State History Award from the Historical Society of Michigan. While working on the book, she learned that her grandmother was born in Flint to one of the Sit-Down Strikers at General Motors -- while the strike was still going on. Her reporting about cities and water also earned an Excellence in Environmental Journalism award from the Great Lakes Environmental Law Council. Anna has been a Fulbright fellow in Nairobi, Kenya, an intentional community member at Haley House in Boston, and a Knight-Wallace journalism fellow at the University of Michigan. She edited A Detroit Anthology, and has been involved in cultivating the literary culture of the city in a number of ways, including as a writer-in-residence in public schools and co-curator of the Motor Signal Reading Series. Anna grew up in St. Joseph, Michigan.
